Installed a home battery? Get up to €5,696 compensation — new support program from APVA with a €15 million budget

The Lithuanian Ministry of Energy has introduced an updated incentive scheme to promote energy storage installations for public entities, businesses, and farmers. The new scheme broadens eligibility, extends the financing period, and doubles the maximum storage capacity eligible for funding.

The initiative is part of the national recovery plan Planas „Naujos kartos Lietuva“, which aims to encourage residents to store energy generated from renewable sources like solar panels and to boost energy efficiency at the household level.

Hurry up!

On the first day, 8 April, over 1,500 applications were submitted, totaling €8.3 million. More than €6 million in funding is still available. The systems are operating smoothly, so all current applicants can expect to receive state support.

📌 Applications can be submitted via the APVA systemapvis.apva.lt

Who is eligible?

Applications can be submitted by individuals who:

  • Installed their energy storage system after January 7, 2025;
  • Own a property connected to a solar or other renewable energy installation;
  • Can provide documentation proving the purchase and installation;
  • Have not previously received funding for the same storage unit through other schemes.

Important: Applications can only be submitted after installation is completed.

Funding amounts

The amount of compensation depends on the type of battery installed:

💡 Funding covers 54.4% of all eligible expenses. The rest is co-financed by the applicant.

Equipment requirements

  • The battery system must be new and unused;
  • It must be CE-marked and compliant with EU safety and environmental standards;
  • It must be used exclusively for storing energy from renewable sources;
  • All supporting documents (invoices, handover acts, declarations, photos, and technical specs) must be issued no earlier than January 7, 2025, and before application submission.

Why was this program launched?

The programme is designed to:

  • Promote the development of decentralized energy storage;
  • Reduce grid load through self-consumption of generated energy;
  • Increase the share of renewables in the national energy mix;
  • Achieve a target of at least 39.3 MWh of new storage capacity in private households.

It’s a key step in Lithuania’s broader transition to a sustainable energy system.
