The European Union to Fund Installation of Solar Power Stations for Lithuanians ​

The investment program of the European Union funds offers Lithuanian citizens compensation for installing solar power stations with a capacity of up to 10 kW in their homes, as reported by the Environmental Projects Management Agency of the Ministry of Environment of Lithuania. Here’s how to do it.

What is the program?

Starting from January 30, residents of Lithuania can apply for compensation for the installation of their own solar power stations with a capacity of up to 10 kW in their homes. The EU fund’s investment program allocates €8 million for this purpose until 2027.

Which applications can be compensated?

  • New installation of a solar power station for the capital region. For individuals in households in the capital region (Elektrenai, Salcininkai, Sirvintos, Svencionys, Trakai, Ukmerge self-governments, as well as Vilnius district and Vilnius).
  • Increase in capacity of an existing station for the capital region. For individuals in households in the capital region (Elektrenai, Salcininkai, Sirvintos, Svencionys, Trakai, Ukmerge municipalities, as well as Vilnius district and Vilnius).
  • New installation of a solar power station for Central and Western Lithuania. For individuals in households in Central and Western Lithuania (Alytus, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Marijampole, Panevezys, Siauliai, Taurage, Telsiai, and Utena municipalities).
  • Increase in capacity of an existing station for Central and Western Lithuania. For individuals in households in Central and Western Lithuania (Alytus, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Marijampole, Panevezys, Siauliai, Taurage, Telsiai, and Utena municipalities).

What are the conditions and the amount of payouts?

When submitting an application, it is essential to consider whether you want to install a new solar power station or increase the capacity of an existing one.
Applications for funding can be submitted within six months or until the total requested funding is exhausted.
Projects must be implemented by the population within nine months from the date of application. The payout amount for purchasing and installing a new solar power station is €323.01 per 1 kW of installed capacity, and for increasing the capacity of an existing station, it is €243.20 per 1 kW of installed capacity.
Another important detail is that if the site of electricity consumption is registered for economic activity of a legal or natural person, a declaration of “One Enterprise” must be submitted.

Who will not get approval for their application?

  • Those with outstanding debts to Sodra or the state tax inspection.
  • Those who have received or had a verdict within the last five years related to illegal activities damaging the financial interests of Lithuania and/or the European Union.
  • Those under pre-trial investigation for economic or business activities.
  • Those against whom bankruptcy proceedings have been initiated.
  • Individuals, groups, and organizations listed under sanctions.
