Very soon, the Ministry of Energy of Lithuania will announce the acceptance of additional applications for installing solar power plants with a capacity of up to 10 kW in their homes. €12 million will be allocated for this purpose, according to the Agency for the Management of Environmental Projects of the Ministry of Environment of Lithuania (APVA). It is worth reminding that at the last time, applications were accepted for just one day due to an enormous influx of applicants.
Let’s talk about what this program is and what needs to be done to receive compensation from the investment programs of the European Union funds for the installation of solar power plants.
What is this program?
Starting from February 27, residents of Lithuania will be able to reapply for compensation for installing their solar power plants with a capacity of up to 10 kW in their homes. €12 million has been allocated for this by the investment program of the European Union funds.
Which applications can be compensated?
New solar power plant installation for the capital region (the total funding allocated for accepting applications will be €2.85 million)
- For individuals in households in the capital region (Elektrėnai, Šalčininkai, Širvintos, Švenčionys, Trakai, Ukmergė municipality, as well as Vilnius district and Vilnius).
Increasing the capacity of an already existing station for the capital region (the total funding allocated for accepting applications will be €150,000)
- For individuals in households in the capital region (Elektrėnai, Šalčininkai, Širvintos, Švenčionys, Trakai, Ukmergė municipality, as well as Vilnius district and Vilnius).
New solar power plant installation for Central and Western Lithuania (the total funding allocated for accepting applications will be €8.55 million)
- For individuals in households in Central and Western Lithuania (Alytus, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Marijampolė, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Tauragė, Telšiai, and Utėna municipalities).
Increasing the capacity of an already existing station for Central and Western Lithuania (the total funding allocated for accepting applications will be €450,000)
- For individuals in households in Central and Western Lithuania (Alytus, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Marijampolė, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Tauragė, Telšiai, and Utėna municipalities).
What are the conditions and the amount of payments?
When applying, it is necessary to consider whether you want to install a new solar power station or increase the capacity of an already existing one.
Applications for financing can be submitted within six months or until the number of applications exhausts the allocated finance.
Projects must be implemented by the population within nine months from the date of application. The cost for purchasing and installing a new solar power station is €323.01 per 1 kW of installed solar power station capacity, and for increasing the capacity of an already existing solar power station — €243.20 per 1 kW of installed solar power station capacity.
Another important detail is that if the economic activity of a legal entity and/or an individual is registered at the electricity consumption site, then a declaration of “One Enterprise” must be submitted.
Who will not be approved?
- Those who have debts to Sodra or the State Tax Inspectorate.
- Those who have been convicted or whose sentence has entered into force in the last five years in connection with illegal activities damaging the financial interests of Lithuania and/or the European Union.
- Those against whom pre-trial investigation into economic and/or economic activities has been initiated.
- Those against whom bankruptcy proceedings have been initiated.
- Those who are included in the list of individuals, groups, and organizations are subject to sanctions.
What is crucial to do before applying for compensation?
- Determine what capacity of solar power station you need;
- Find out the technical possibilities for connecting the power station;
- Consult on the capacity of the power grid. That will avoid additional hassle — for example, if it turns out that your network’s capacity is insufficient to receive the electricity generated by the solar power station.
It is worth reminding you that the last time applications were opened was on January 30 of this year. The funding amount was €8 million. The application process was closed on the same day due to the influx of applicants. As reported by APVA on that day, 2,800 applications were received, of which 2,500 residents applied for compensation for the installation of a solar power station, and 260 applied for an increase in the capacity of an already existing one.
